From swimming, sliding, splashing and mountain climbing to simply relaxing, when it comes to mountain and leisure activities, the lakeside village of Molveno is one of the best addresses in Trentino! Located between the Brenta Dolomities mountains and the Paganella plateau, Molveno is a popular destination for both mountain and lake lovers.

Awarded in 2015 with the ‘5 Blue Sails’ on the Legambiente and Italian Touring Club’s Blue Guide for the 6th consecutive year, Molveno Lake and its lush green shoreline offer many attractions and sporting highlights such as tennis, beach volleyball and open-air adventure swimming area featuring a sports pool and a children’s pool with water whirler and slides, as well as a spacious sunbathing lawn. Children can also have fun thanks to the comfortable playgrounds, sandboxes and minigolf. The lake is a good location to practice sailing, windsurfing and canoeing, or to hire a pedal boat and silently enjoy the panorama. As with all mountain lakes, the water remains relatively cold all year round, reaching between 20 and 22°C in summer – so swimming is something reserved for the bravest of the brave!

Gateway to the Brenta Dolomites mountains, Molveno has been attracting travellers and alpine climbers since the late 19th century, eager to discover and reach the spectacular peeks surrounding the village. Cable cars transport visitors from Molveno up into the Pradel plateau and the ‘La Montanara’ mountain hut, where children and adults can enjoy the ‘Forest Park’ outdoor adventure area. Walkers, hikers and mountain bikers will find a number of signposted trails, such as the Dolomiti di Brenta Bike and Dolomiti di Brenta Trek, that take you into the magical nature of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park and into the specatular landscape of the Dolomites. And if you’re after something breathtaking, enjoy the thrill of paragliding over the lake – you can always choose to tandem with our local world champion!

For both amateur and professional runners, there are different races taking place during the summer: ‘Molveno Lake Running’ (June), ‘Vivi Molveno Running’ (August) o the ‘Dolomiti di Brenta Trail’ (September).

Molveno was also awarded the tourism’s official mark of quality ‘Orange Flag’ by the Italian Touring Club, for its unspoiled nature and its historic-cultural heritage.
